Dr. Tabacco is the medical director and team physician of George Washington University Athletics and Georgetown Preparatory School. Dr Tabacco has also served as the team physician for the NFL Washington football team for the past 7 years.

Personal Interests

Dr. Tabacco enjoys team sports, he loves the games of football and lacrosse. On the east coast, he enjoys playing in recreational lacrosse leagues. At home, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Peggy, and daughter, Penny.


Dr. John Tabacco is a fellowship-trained sports medicine and primary care physician who received his fellowship training from Dr. James Andrews at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Dr. Tabacco completed his internal medicine training at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, a University of Maryland affiliate program. He is a the medical director and team physician of George Washington University Athletics and Georgetown Preparatory School.

Dr. John Tabacco’s love of Sports medicine emerged early in his life. As an NCAA college student-athlete, Dr. Tabacco often found himself in need of medical care for various injuries sustained during lacrosse season. During his sports medicine fellowship training Dr. Tabacco worked with countless professional athletes and served as a physician in the Cincinnati Reds AA affiliate program, the University of West Florida, and with the 2014 Under Armour all-American football team.
